News Flash: TENSE NEEDS SOME LOVE AKA DONATIONS
There are only twelve, I mean 11, ELEVEN days left in the Tense Kickstarter
Asking people for money is without a doubt one of the more unpleasant things I have ever done. I have waited tables, washed dishes, bartended, gardened, helped produce multi-million dollar fashion events, shoplifted (books, meat aka cattle rustling, pharmaceuticals like douches and home pregnancy kits and Advil, etc., food stuffs like coffee, olive oil, tunafish, clothing, electronics and on and on. Also ended up in jail a bunch of times and thus I do not recommend shoplifting as a line of employment though I hear it is much easier now than it was thirty years ago when i was in the game), worked at various menial jobs in books publishing, acted as a secretary/personal assistant for an odd assortment of rich people, dealt drugs, baby sat, cooked, moved furniture, and God only knows what else. The vast majority of these jobs were incredibly unpleasant. So is asking people for money even when it is for something I truly believe in. So here I am. Again. Kickstarter link here: http://kck.st/3wVjyeK Tense is still seven grand short of it’s fundraising goal. While this is not an insurmountable number, it will take some doing to achieve. For those of you who have either performed or visited and enjoyed the events at the space that Tense and myself call home and you would like to read a magazine that will reflect those values and ideas, that will combine the high and the low, the new and the old, the known and the unknown and that will never hesitate to get in the face of blatant lies, censorship and those who place themselves above all others, then Tense might be something you would feel good about supporting with a donation of any size. Through the mediums of fiction, poetry, essays, editorials, photo essays, art, podcasts, and anything that may arise, Tense would like to be your home. A place where you can go to read things that might surprise you, make you laugh, make you angry, make you feel. There is a glut of lit mags of various sizes, ages, prices, themes, ad nauseam yet I still think there is a space for Tense. For a weeks worth of latte’s you can help make Tense a reality. And get ready, it is looking more and more like there will be another fun filled glorious Tense event at you know where on March tenth. Details to appear here sooner than later….THANK YOU!!!
